Music on Earth complies with the principles of the United Kingdom Data Protection Act 1998 (see below) when dealing with data received from visitors to our site.  Music on Earth does not capture and store any personal information about individuals who access our website except where information is voluntarily sent to us by e-mail or by enquiring about any of our services.  

We only hold data which is necessary to offer the services provided on our website.   Users’ access and IP addresses automatically recognised by the web server may be logged for analytical and statistical purposes but the actual user will remain anonymous.    

Music on Earth uses SuperStats to analyse traffic to this web site.  SuperStats does not create individual profiles for visitors.  Unlike some tracking services SuperStats does not have a database of individual profiles for each visitor.  SuperStats only collects aggregate data. 

Users may decline to receive mailings or marketing information.

Any links within this site to other websites are not covered by this policy.  

UK Data Protection Act 1998 

In accordance with the provisions of the European Union Directive on the Protection of Personal  Data (95/46/EC) Member States were required to pass their own national legislation.  The Government of the United Kingdom passed a Data Protection Act in 1998.

Music on Earth complies with the eight enforceable principles of good practice in the processing of personal data.  In brief the principles say that data must be: 

  1. fairly and lawfully processed; 
  2. processed for specified and lawful purposes and shall not be further processed in a manner incompatible with those purposes; 
  3. adequate, relevant and not excessive in relation to those purposes; 
  4. accurate:  where necessary kept up to date; 
  5. not kept longer than necessary; 
  6. processed in accordance with the data subjects rights under the Act which includes the right to know what personal information is being held by Music on Earth, and the right to have personal data corrected or deleted;
  7. secure: appropriate technical and organisational measures to be taken against unlawful and unauthorised processing and access to personal data and against loss, destruction and damage;
  8. not transferred to other countries that do not have adequate protection for the rights and freedom of data subjects in relation to the processing of personal data.

N.B. ‘Processing’ incorporates the concepts of ‘obtaining’, ‘holding’ and ‘disclosing’.
